"Good morning, everyone! My name is Asti, nice to meet you!"
Are you bored to say that overused introduction over and over again? Do you feel your introduction can't catch student's attention? Want to try something different for your first class meeting and make an interesting icebreaker?
We have you covered! This activity will help to spice up your boring introduction and make your student more confident in speaking!
[TELL MY STORY]
I got an inspiration from a popular YouTube channel, Soul Pancake. They make two strangers to make assumptions about each other's background. I modified it for my students and got some great responses! Here, I'm sharing how to do it:
1. Prepare a story narration like this
2. Show the the story to your students
3. Ask them to fill the blanks based on their impression on you
4. After they finish, ask some students to read his/her story about you in front of the class
5. Tell your actual story and compare it with the student's version
6. You can also choose one student and make the rest of the class to tell her/his story.
This ESL game works well as an ice-breaker in the first meeting when they don't know one another. This speaking activity also helps you to find out what is your student's friend impression about you.
